Canadian Hound Show

The Chagrin Valley Hunt Goes to the Hounds!
Canadian Hound Show
June 12, 2010

Friday night Hound Show weekend to Canada was kicked off the weekend with dinner at the London Hunt and Country Club. LHCC is currently celebrating their 125th Anniversary, and the Canadian Hound Show was a part of the weekend’s festivities.

Saturday morning dawned hot and humid and after several months of hard work Huntsman Phillip Headdon and his staff were ready for the competition. CVH started off with a bang as Grizzly took a second, with Nichole Moosmann handling, in the first class: Single Dog Unentered (a male hound, who has never hunted.)

Then the other ribbons rolled in, including a first for Parsley in Single Bitch Entered, a second for Countess, and three other third places and a fourth place ribbon.

Huntsman Headdon and John Redmond showed our five couple to a third place in the Pack Class. (Actually, the judges felt the CVH pack class was just too well behaved!)

Stacy Totten showed her Jack Russell, Dart, in the Working Terrier class. While she was not formally acknowledged, all agreed that Dart was the cutest dog on the show grounds!  Ryan Mock showed our Cheerful hound in the Young Handlers class and did a beautiful job. All that practice really helped.

On Saturday evening John Redmond hosted a casual celebration to rehash all the hound fun of the day on his gorgeous boat, the Spanky B. (the now infamous yacht that broke all the travel time records to Canada.)

Overall, a great meet and greet, learning and earning experience was had by all at this grand event - CVH’s first hound show in well over a decade. We also received some nice offers of puppies and breeding opportunities that could add great benefit to our already wonderful pack of hounds.

Thank you for all your good wishes and enthusiasm,

The Huntsman, The Masters, The Staff and, of course,
The Hounds of the Chagrin Valley Hunt
