Silvernail

After nearly a dozen years of not hunting our Silvernail fixture, a hardy band of 24 foxhunters + 2 roadwhips (huge for a Tuesday hunt) can tell you that the re-visited, re-opened and re-polished Silvernail fixture is STERLING!

A fantastic group of trail-working hunt folk and Huntsman spent 100+ hours whipping back the overgrowth of the ages and opening “sand highways” that traverse the fixture. From an overview, one of the true values of this new/old fixture, both interesting and beautiful, is that it is contiguous with our Schoolhouse venue. Silvernail is also a great hilltopper fixture with, at this point, only one jump and neighboring gate that we did not even get to yesterday. And did I hear you ask about game in the fixture? Ah, I thought so...well, our Huntsman and outrider Nicole Moosman just missed the view but were thrilled to see the 13.5 couple pack streaking across the field, tight enough to throw a blanket over, screeeeeeeeeeaming! We will be hunting Silvernail again next month – so if you want to have the best time ever with your hunt clothes on— don’t miss it!

Again, many thanks to those who worked so hard to make these trails so rideable: Huntsman Phillip Headdon, Judy McConnell, Laura Mock, Nicole Moosman, Nancy Sogg, Katherine and Henry Merkel, Chris and Justin Donaldson, and Mose and Levi Wengerd.
